BECOMING A MEMBER OF CALACS CHÂTEAUGUAY INTERESTS YOU ?

 

THREE CATEGORIES OF CALACS MEMBERS

 

Activist (voting) members

are adult women (18 years and older) who act on their own behalf and participate in and/or carry out activities. They adhere to the goals and values of the organization. They must have undergone training deemed appropriate by the organization in order to get involved in the activities.

 

Solidarity members (non-voting)

are women and adolescent girls (14 years and over) who act in their own name and who are interested in supporting and/or collaborating in the advancement of the cause of the problem of assaults on sexual character without becoming active members of the organization. CALACS Châteauguay calls on its solidarity members to participate in action activities (Examples: petitions, marches, etc.).

 

Sympathizing members (non-voting)

are men or teenagers (14 years and over) or groups that act in their own name or groups wishing to support the cause of sexual assault. Supporting members will receive the newsletter and may be invited to the centre’s mixed actions.

Possibilities of common involvement for activist and solidarity members:

  • Perform clerical duties
  • Participate in collective actions (example: demonstration)
  • Participate in activities organized by CALACS (theme evening, pizza-ribbon evening, JACVSFF, etc.)
  • Involvement in the creation of the newsletter
  • Participate in the AGM

 

Possibilities of involvement reserved for militant members:

  • Sit on the collective
  • Co-facilitate a support group (other prerequisites apply)
  • Organize collective actions
  • Hold a booth
